Office of Experiential Education announces Fall Community of Practice event series

The Office of Experiential Education (ExEd) is pleased to announce this fall’s Community of Practice event series. The ExEd Community of Practice is for all West Lafayette faculty, staff and graduate students who have a passion for experiential education and want to learn from others on how to improve their work.

This year’s ExEd Community of Practice is focused on the seven types of experiential education at Purdue. These include 1) work-integrated learning, 2) intercultural/travel learning, 3) undergraduate research and scholarly projects, 4) service-learning, 5) client-based applied projects, 6) scenario-based learning, and 7) engaged campus experiences. Definitions and examples of each type of experiential education can be found on the Office of ExEd website

The first Community of Practice event is on Wednesday, October 25 at 3:30 p.m. in WALC 3121. This event will feature a panel discussion on the seven types of experiential education and feature experts from across the university. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to network with other ExEd educators.

The second Community of Practice event is on Tuesday, November 14 at 3:00 p.m. in BRNG B212. This event will feature a discussion of work-integrated learning plus undergraduate research and scholarly projects.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to register online. For more information, please visit the Office of ExEd website. Any questions about the events or the Community of Practice can be directed to Jennifer Bay, ExEd Faculty Fellow, at jbay@purdue.edu.

Purdue’s Office of Experiential Education was created to carry out the experiential education portion of the Transformative Education 2.0 initiative. The office and these events are supported by the Office of the Provost in the Teaching and Learning Division.
